Step outside and immerse yourself in the vibrant world of plein air painting! In this
hands-on, outdoor class, you'll learn how to capture the ever-changing beauty of nature directly
on canvas. Whether it’s a sunlit meadow, a shimmering lake, or the rolling hills, this class will
guide you through the process of painting landscapes on location. With expert guidance from
instructor Timothy Ginexi, you’ll master the techniques of color mixing, brushwork, and
composition, all while adapting to the challenges of painting outdoors.
Whether capturing the texture of trees, the softness of distant hills, or the reflections in water,
you’ll gain confidence in translating the landscape’s natural elements onto canvas.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a completed plein air landscape painting and the
confidence to continue painting outdoors, armed with new skills and an understanding of the
beauty of painting in nature.

What You’ll Learn:

Throughout the class, you’ll learn how to harness natural light, create depth through layering,
and use color to reflect the atmosphere of the scene in front of you. By the end of this session,
you'll have a unique, finished landscape painting that reflects both your artistic journey and the
beauty of the outdoor setting.

• Mastering Color Mixing Outdoors: Learn how to create a personalized
palette to capture the natural light and colors of the landscape. From vibrant skies to shadowed
earth, you’ll understand how to mix colors that reflect the true beauty of the outdoors.


• Adapting to Changing Light: Discover how outdoor lighting affects your painting, and learn
how to adapt your palette and techniques to the shifting light conditions throughout the class.


• Composition and Depth: Understand the principles of landscape composition and how to
create depth through the foreground, middle ground, and background. You’ll explore how to
simplify complex scenes and focus on the key elements that make your landscape unique.


• Brushwork for Nature: Learn how to use different brushes for varying textures and effects.
